Intent Goals

Configure what information your AI should collect during conversations

What Are Intent Goals?

Intent Goals define what information your AI should collect for different types of customer interactions. Instead of scripting every conversation, you tell the AI what to collect, not how to ask for it.

Goal-Directed Conversations

ResponseBud uses a goal-directed conversational AI system. The AI tracks intent internally and collects information naturally, without rigid scripts or dialogue trees.

How Intent Goals Work

When a customer interacts with your AI (via SMS or voice), the AI:

1

Detects Intent

The AI analyzes the conversation to determine the customer's intent (e.g., booking an appointment, asking about pricing, requesting support).

2

Applies Goals

Based on the detected intent, the AI uses the configured intent goals to determine what information needs to be collected.

3

Collects Information

The AI naturally asks for the required information during the conversation, adapting to the customer's responses and communication style.

4

Completes the Goal

Once all required information is collected, the AI can take action (e.g., create a booking, send a quote, escalate to support).

Common Intent Types

ResponseBud recognizes several common intent types:

General Inquiry

Questions about hours, location, services

Pricing Inquiry

Cost, quotes, estimates

Booking Appointment

Scheduling requests

Support Request

Issues or complaints

Lead Qualification

Qualifying potential customers

Callback Request

Customer wants someone to call back

Configuring Intent Goals

Step 1: Navigate to Intent Goals

  1. Go to your dashboard
  2. Navigate to SettingsIntent Goals

Step 2: Define Information Goals

For each intent type, specify what information should be collected:

  • Required fields: Information that must be collected before the goal is complete
  • Optional fields: Information that's nice to have but not required
  • Priority: The order in which information should be collected

Example: Booking Appointment

For a booking appointment intent, you might configure:

  • Name (Required, Priority 1)
  • Phone Number (Required, Priority 2)
  • Service Type (Required, Priority 3)
  • Preferred Date/Time (Required, Priority 4)
  • Address (Optional)

Best Practices

  • Keep required fields to a minimum - only ask for what's truly necessary
  • Order fields by priority - collect the most important information first
  • Let the AI handle the conversation flow - it will ask naturally
  • Test your intent goals with real conversations to ensure they work well
